Haiku Challenge for Jan. 4: ‘Show’ (Part II)

Today’s haiku challenge:

This is another repeat one (we just did this one on Dec. 15, baffled!), and you can read my first five haiku poems with this prompt here.

My style is the five/seven/five syllable structure. Here are my next five haiku poems:

show me where the love
billowed out of you, leaving
like a death rattle.

show me memories —
a highlight reel unspooling —
reverse honeymoon.

show me the pain spots —
various color palettes —
beautiful painting.

dissatisfaction
shows like mold on pool liner.
swimming in circles.

the depression show:
a mummification dance
on a darkened stage.

Day 1 of the 2021 21 Day Meditation, Affirmation, and Journaling Challenge

A New You Self Care

Join A New You Self Care Center in their 21 Day Meditation, Affirmation, and Journaling Challenge. Psychologists say that doing something for 21 days helps it to become a part of your daily routine. It simply becomes a habit and betters our mind, body, and soul.

This 21 Day Challenge will provide you affirmations to try each day, suggested meditations, and journaling prompts. It will also provide space for you to add any spiritual practice such as Yoga, Qigong, etc.

This is a very simple practice. Find about 15 to 30 minutes a day to practice each of these exercises.

Here is today’s Challenge

Day 1 Meditation, Affirmation, Journaling Challenge

Morning Meditation: Begin this challenge by spending 5 minutes thinking in silence and thinking about what benefits you wish to get out of this challenge.

Affirmation: I am determined to achieve my dreams in the new year.

In Search of My Muse

Behind The Curtain

I’m searching. Searching for my muse.

Where has she been? What has she been doing?

She is the one who started it all.

The one who gave me the desire to write. To put my mind to work.

I miss my muse.

She gave me pain. She gave me pleasure.

Passion

“What is your passion?” I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Those were the words. The words that inspired.  I don’t know if I’ve made it clear.

When I lost my muse, I lost the passion.

I found it inside.  It is still there. It is hiding.

Wanting?

It wants a muse to spur the awakening.

I asked to hire them as my muse. Just so I could communicate with them. It’s been so long.

I don’t need to hire a muse. A muse doesn’t need to know. They don’t need to know the works they inspire.

beautifully so:

I come from a place where
rainbows are made
where the colours are corralled and coordinated
where the spectrum is split like an atom
where the wheel spins in every different direction
where the world rolls on and over us again.

I come from a place where
colour is forged at 4 am in sacred silence
pulling blue from the depths of mirror lakes
weaving red from the glow of gentle embers
drawing yellow from the eyes of dandelions
dreaming green from the skeins of seaweed
and anything else we can find.

I come from a place where
coal is gold and gold is God and God is dead and death isn’t tax-exempt
where the rock trains rumble and snake through the valley all day
unstoppable

Careful Organization and Planning Helps Preserve your Favorite Photos

A New You Self Care

Photos can be a wonderful way to preserve memories and relive favorite past moments.  However, they can also become a cluttered mess without an organized storage plan.

Probably the most important tool to have when you begin your photo organization project is a trash can. Statistics show the average person develops one roll of 24 pictures a month but only seven are worth keeping. You’ll probably find many photos in your collection that simply aren’t worth keeping.

Another tool you’ll need during your organization process is several manila envelopes. Do your best to sort the photos by year and place each group in the envelope with the year clearly marked on it. Place these envelopes in a strong cardboard box or storage bin. You’ll probably be able to store a decade’s worth of photos in a single container.

Collages and shadow boxes are great ways to display several photos from…

What’s Your Dog Name?

leverage ambition

I had a gold retriever named Joshua and a beagle named Beamer growing up. I used to imagine myself being a dog too and playing with them. The golden retriever would always jump in our pool for a dip when it was hot. On the flip side our beagle would chase bunnies all day long and neighbors would complain of it howling when it found them. He was always very nice though!

Photo by Samson Katt on Pexels.com

This leads me to this article. If you were a dog, what would your name be? The great news is you can find out right now!

First we need your birth month:

January – Miss

February – Prince

March – Doctor

April – Captain

May – Special Agent

June – Lady

July – King

August – Sergeant

September – Princess

October – McStuffins

November – Scoundrel

December – McQuakers
