Light Darkness

I Write Her

those alive continuously waver back and forth
experiencing one or the other
and inhabiting this space
in each and every shade in between

maybe it will be the tragic stain of black
covering them entirely in darkness
or perhaps the gentle brilliance of the sun
lifting them into the light

as their canvas layers thicken with experience
dabbed hopefully also with acceptance and grace
they come away with their unique shading
blending the opposing colors of the spectrum

The Tree Ultimately Fell…

Ashish Vision

A building made by immense struggle and effort.
That collapsed due to a sudden storm.
Collecting the pieces of the collapsed structure.
I lost my own mind and the body structure.
The language and gesture all went in vain.
At a sudden surprise, I was left in pain.
I didn’t cry but tears fell.
The tree I planted ultimately fell.In the narrow passage of my heart, there was a hope.
Searching for the way to convert that hope into a scope.
Loads of loads of trouble were in the queue.
Not aware whether this was a never ending queue.
The journey which I started from the bottom of my heart.
That came to an end which left my heart with loads of hurt.
I enjoyed that moment a lot.
As I have to build another plot.
The plot with more immune capacity.
That is capable of holding any tragedy.

# Practice yoga during coronavirus #

Dear friends.

Winter has arrived . Today I went for a morning walk after a long gap, in the Park.. I found few changes there..

Parks usually look very beautiful during the winter season.

The park was filled with greenery, trees and seasonal flowers all around. The sun was blazing and very relaxed due to cold weather. After a short walk I sat down on the marble bench in the sunlight feeling pleasant .

Few of my friends were sitting around and posing their Yoga postures.

I also joined in the exercise. I use to do yoga everyday here during morning walk. We also discussed why Yoga is necessary during covid-19,

Mr Mathur said…I didn’t start yoga until 2005 but once I started, I am doing daily thought out the year and it has been our habit to do yoga daily in the morning.

In the initial days when I…

Captain Darryl Hollands – Steamroller Farm 1943

Weapons and Warfare

The previous evening a German counter-offensive had cut the road between El Aroussa and Medjez el Bab. The commander of Y Division, a scratch force holding this sector of the front, had no idea of the enemy’s strength and he decided to probe the area of Steamroller Farm, four and a half miles to the north, and the pass lying immediately beyond. The troops detailed for the task included a company of the 2nd Coldstream Guards, A Squadron 51 RTR, equipped with Churchills, and a troop of field guns. Hollands, a quiet man with immense resources of physical courage, had already been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal when, as a sergeant, he had rescued a pilot from a burning aircraft at Dunkirk; now, he was commanding A Squadron’s 1 Troop.

As the force approached Steamroller Farm it was apparent that it was heavily defended and the squadron came under fire…

On Being a Real-Life Dad

Mitch Teemley

I confess, I’m cheating a little, since I’ve posted this short dad video before, along with some thoughts on my own dad. But, hey, I’m also a dad, and I’m busy being celebrated today. So just a brief meditation here, which (second confession) I actually wrote and scheduled yesterday.

Real-Life Dads are almost by definition imperfect. I know this because my dad was imperfect–and so am I (no, that’s not a third confession; it’s a well-known fact). But most of us Real-Life Dads are really trying (really). And as we we get older and think about how much we love our kids, we begin to realize our dads must have felt the same way about us. So once we forgive them for being imperfect, we start loving them a little more, and might even (whether or not they’re still with us) feel like shouting:

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

Do You Have Christ’s Fullness?

Photo by Mohamed Nohassi on Unsplash

John 1:14-18 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16 And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

When the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, God Himself entered His own creation. Jesus Christ is the Eternal Word of God, God…

The End of the War Chariot III

Weapons and Warfare

The Spring and Autumn period (770–481 BC) there differed in many ways from that of the Warring States, but they shared one thing in common: the frequency of fighting. Whilst the former witnessed the heyday of chariot battle, with engagements sometimes settled within the course of a single day, during the latter they were more prolonged as armies grew in size through the addition of massed infantry and cavalry. Manoeuvring and the ability to call upon reinforcements caused a number of Warring States’ battles to exceed a week. Conflicts themselves tended to stretch over several years. In 314 BC Qi took advantage of internal problems in Yan to attack that northeastern state, and overran it in a swift campaign. According to the Zhanguo ce, a collection of historical anecdotes concerning the Warring States period, this military opportunity arose because of the weakness of the Yan ruler, who preferred to leave…

The End of the War Chariot II

Weapons and Warfare

In reliefs cut at Abydos we can see how closely the ‘runners’ cooperated with chariots at the battle of Kadesh. Besides countering the activities of Hittite ‘runners’ during the assault on the Egyptian camp, the Shardana skirmished amongst the Hittite chariotry, finishing off immobilised enemy charioteers and chariot warriors. Their dispatch was clearly the job of the ‘runners’, who also severed enemy hands in order to number the dead. The presentation of hands to an Egyptian scribe after the battle was over may have been rewarded by a better share of the booty. From the account of Kadesh which Ramesses II had carved on various temple walls it can be deduced that Egyptian soldiers rarely acted as ‘runners’. The same conclusion may be drawn from Ramesses III’s record of the repulse of the Sea Peoples, not least because he deliberately chose to hire mercenaries rather than recruit men attached to…

The End of the War Chariot I

Weapons and Warfare

He advanced against me intent on combat. I defeated him, I shattered his warriors, 3,000 of whom I slew. With their blood I filled the wide plain. His arms, his royal treasure, his cavalry, I took away from him. To save his life he climbed a steep mountain … Over the plain I thundered like Adad, the storm god. Now my harsh rule is established over Urartu.

Assyrian inscription

The first blow to the chariot’s supremacy as a war machine fell in the eastern Mediterranean during the twelfth century BC. This setback was inextricably bound up with the widespread destruction then visited upon cities throughout the region, a catastrophe usually blamed on the so-called Sea Peoples. The name was coined in the late nineteenth century to refer to the invaders from across the sea described by Ramesses III (1198–1166 BC) in his account of their repulse from Egypt. Yet it…
