“The Pharaohs’ Golden Parade”: the ultimate journey of the royal mummies?

The gods Set (left) and Horus (right) blessing Ramesses in the small temple at Abu Simbel. The bas-reliefs on the side walls of the small sanctuary represent scenes of offerings to various gods made either by the pharaoh or the queen.[6] On the back wall, which lies to the west along the axis of the temple, there is a niche in which Hathor, as a divine cow, seems to be coming out of the mountain.

The Pharaohs of Egypt have compared themselves with the Egyptian Gods and Goddesses, as the story tells. But in the history of human’s archaeology, there are many attempts to make a big show of it. For example, before the so-called Arab Spring, Zahi Hawass, Egypt’s former antiquities minister, had tried many times to make such shows which went wrong sometimes. He is a famous man, not just because of his shows, here, but…

Responding to reality

Heroes Not Zombies

Here’s something which I reckon is part of the daily experience of the vast majority of us…….the weather changes all the time. This weekend, it’s mid Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, but I read on both the UK and French weather forecasts that it will be more like Autumn than Spring today. There’s obviously one of those big weather systems active over Western Europe and its bringing lower temperatures, rain and wind. But yesterday afternoon we sat outside in the garden, in the sun, and chatted with one of our neighbours, and, earlier, we hung out a washing on the line and it dried in no time.

I know that we can hit a run of days where the weather seems much the same, but, mostly, it changes every day, and it changes all day long.

This photo I’m sharing today shows rain falling on the next village across the…

Here It Comes Folks

The Written Addiction

This quick recording of my thoughts are nothing more than a record of my thoughts. Today, I am faced with my own thoughts on the rebuild of what we call our society. And here we are, facing a new morning sun. The weather is improving and the northern hemisphere is leaning in, closer to the sun. I like these months ahead of us. However, I admit there are challenges ahead.

There is, of course, the new rebirth of our country, let alone, my City. I am watching this rebirth grow on a daily basis. I‘m not sure what this means or how long this will take, but still, slowly but surely, I’m seeing more life in the City.
I’m seeing more people in the streets. I’m seeing a resurgence of life, so-to-speak, which I hope to see improve more and more on a daily basis.

An addictive book that had me stuck to my cozy place to bed to finish it. Reading a book by author Sue Moorcroft after a long time, I was completely immersed in Zia’s life, wanting to know the truth about her family.

Zia captured my interest from the first page when she wanted to travel to Italy to find her family with hardly any clues. Zia was courageous and determined. I loved her friendship with Ursula. They had the perfect bond, garnering my envy.

But later it was Piero who made me swoon. He seemed the man of my dreams. His chemistry with Zia had me longing for my own sparks in life. But he had his…

Song of Myself

Redtree Times

I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contain’d,
I stand and look at them long and long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.

–Song of Myself  32, Walt Whitman

leaves of grassA little busy this morning but wanted to share a few lines from Uncle Walt. I find that it has a soothing effect much like the effect of watching the wild creatures that live around us. My current best animal friend is Howie the older tom turkey who…

Today’s Reading: Psalm 21

For the king relies on the Lord; through the faithful love of the Most High he is not shaken.

Psalm 21:7

Reflection: King David of Israel was a highly revered king, but he was also a man who was very imperfect. His sinful acts are recorded in the Bible for us to remember, including lying, adultery, and murder. But because he relied on the LORD, David was blessed beyond measure by Him. His prayers were heard and answered. He knew great joy in the LORD’s strength. He received abundant blessings from God, victory and majesty and splendor, and found joy in nearness to Him. Even the LORD’s corrective discipline upon him was a blessing. David did not acquire these things from God. There was no way for him to obtain any of these things for himself. Certainly, he could not earn…

I swear
I see the sun in your eyes

In my eyes
Little round tears

my greatest strength
I am daily beautiful poem
her eyes
I am restless but
I found peace in
Her eyes
Keep me

No matter where you go
Keep me in your heart
And i shall never be that far

and when i think of myself
my heart becomes whole
sweet destiny
Drink me in
I am.

Marriage or Career?

While most of the women living in the modern society will choose career over marriage, why is the society uncomfortable with their choices?

Image Souce: YourStory

Women have evolved from a dependent gender to a representative individual in the society. When most of the women earn their living on their own, there are many people who keep on forcing them to give up their career choices. Why is society so much uncomfortable in accepting the independent state of a woman?

You might be thinking that in what era am I living in; aren’t things like these extinct already. But in an answer I would like to say ‘NO’. Even today society wants women to stay at home because ‘Agar zyada padhi likhi hogi toh zyada zubaan chalegi iski’ (If she is more educated, she’ll have more opinions) Wait… What? Why do you want to have a submissive, Why do you…

Dear Love |An open letter series #4

stuff and poems

Dear Love,
I hope you’re doing well. The pandemic situation in India is worse than ever but there’s so much empathy, resilience and faith amongst the people, especially on social media, who’re trying to help each other with whatever resources they can make available. I hope you’re keeping safe, love.

People everyday are losing friends, family, lovers and children. It’s heartbreaking. These moments of epiphany, make you ponder hard at what you have to lose.
Dear love, I lost you but I take solace in the fact that you’re there in some corner of the world, happy and healthy. Isn’t it better to lose love and gain friendship than to lose the possibility of imagining them happy, somewhere, even if without you?
Juxtaposed to the losses people bear, I find my pain diminished to nothing.
My heart goes out for all those people who’ve lost their loved ones.

Pain isn’t…

15 M: Debate Z. Bauman & j re crivello

Barcelona / j re crivello

Our existence, a maze

Blindfolded in a tornado fueled craze

With a start and an end in vague

Journeying through the looping circuitry

Hoping it’ll last for eternity

We propell on and row back

Never reaching our way out

Until the divine determines the end of our days

To escape forever, this life’s etheral labyrinth

Twists and turns

The divine masculine didn’t know why he followed her heart throughthe obscurity

Until one day he realized to reunite he had to let go of his insecurities and impurities, the divine feminine reunion, maturity.
