Poetic Oddities

Through The Cracked Window (Revisited)

(Poets as critics)

(There is a culture of poets critiquing other poets;
this is not why we write.
We write for ourselves;
if another takes something from that then that is great.
This was never a competition.)

Writing poems is what we do
for others to read and to view
as long as we get some likes
we are happy; maybe a follow

To read and to appreciate
we build up others; so great
as they may do the same for us
not a competition to be won

Some are arrogant, and flaunt
towards those that seem to daunt
this was never the game
often when they can’t write
