Visionary Poems

A cheerless sky
In hues of pale charcoal attired
Swept through the firmament at night
With scant relief
From mere hints of indigo and violet
At its hem a hovering
Where the endless eternity of the cosmos
Encountered the horizon
That edged the waters
Which filled the deep of the sea
As it dipped into the benthic blue
Beneath the starless ceiling
That drew near to the realm
For consolation and succour
Where lights from the humble dwellings
Scattered along the shoreline
Offered relief from the tedium
Of a long night of relentless drabness
That yearned for the dawn
As the land pines for brightness of spring
Following an interminable winter merciless
