300 air passengers escape mandatory COVID-19 test at Silchar Airport

A day after Assam Government announced a seven-days mandatory home quarantine for passengers arriving from other states, at least 300 air travellers allegedly violated COVID-19 protocol by escaping mandatory RT PCR test at the Silchar airport.

As per reports, the administration has made necessary arrangements for the passengers to undergo Covid-19 testing at a nearest hospital. A bus was arranged for the same, however, a total of 300 passengers skipped the testing and went their own way after reaching the testing centre.

A total of 690 passengers arrived at the airport, out of which 189 underwent Covid-19 testing, following which six were tested positive.

Reportedly, the Cachar district administration is mulling to take action against the violators and has gathered all the necessary information from the airport authorities to trace the passengers who have violated the Covid protocols.
