Lou Reed (Louis Firbank) was born on this day, 2nd March 1942.
He was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was co-founder and the front man of the rock group the Velvet Underground, a band managed by Andy Warhol.
He had also a successful solo career spanning several decades.
In 1982, around his 40th birthday, he released “The Blue Mask” an album to which the song “The Day John Kennedy Died” belongs
