Garkain follows a young woman who goes to Australia to uncover her past and finds a supernatural world she never thought existed. What was the inspiration for the setup to this exciting story?

My own adoption, in a way. Amelia’s beginning is the same as mine. I was adopted as a baby from a hospital in Houston, with an Australian heritage. The rest however, is quite different. As an adopted child though, I think we all have these questions of where we come from, why we were given up. I took those questions and constructed a truly fantastic tale for Amelia, letting my own imagination run wild. I’ve always loved the Paranormal and Young Adult genre, but grew tired of the usual things you’d find. I wanted to give readers a truly unique experience.
